Agility Agriculture showcase Takii Brassica varieties; combining innovation with tradition at October 2019 Open Days

The Brassica Open Days and Annual Variety Trials in Lincolnshire are an established feature of the year for growers.  Whilst the exclusive distribution agreement between Takii Seeds and Agility Agriculture is still relatively new, it is an exciting occasion as both companies combine their strengths and showcase some exciting innovations together for the first time.

“The Takii Brassica portfolio is probably one of the industries’ best kept secrets,” commented Tom Hart, Director, Agility Agriculture.   “Growers quite rightly stick with what they know but our experience during extensive field trials has demonstrated that Takii varieties are an extremely viable proposition against current standards,” Tom continued.

“In times of political uncertainty and increased pressure on growers we want to expand our crop portfolio in line with grower and market demands.  Varieties that we showcase at the Open Day will give growers the peace of mind and assurance that a long established and innovative seed breeding company in Takii seeds is focusing even more on our market, bring increased variety options; be it for disease resistance, yield potential or guarantee of supply and timely delivery.  With so many varieties coming through the pipeline we have selected proven commercial and pre-commercial varieties that will make a real difference to the grower portfolio,” explained Tom.

Some of the exciting event highlights this year include new Spring Green and Broccoli varieties for the UK & Ireland, alongside an opportunity to look at the recent work that Takii have carried out on various cabbage disease resistance profiles.

“The Takii values are very much at the core of what we have planned for the UK Open Days” commented Chris Matthijsse, Area Sales Manager & Brassica Product Manager, Takii Seeds.  “Our business has been based on quality, reliability and innovation for the last 183 years.  Our recent investment in the new European breeding stations ensures that we are at the forefront of new variety introductions in the local UK market.  We feel very positive about the new supply agreement with Agility Agriculture and the opportunities that this will present to growers” concluded Chris.

BASIS and NRoSO points will apply for all customers attending the event.  For further information about the Brassica Open Day please call 02380 454676 or email
