Positive feedback from industry partners and exciting variety news at the British Carrots Field Trials Day

We were delighted to attend the British Carrots Field Trials day on Thursday 6th October, hosted by Hobson Farming at Scampston Estate.

Blessed with fine Autumn sunshine and a good turnout from industry partners, there was a great deal of interest shown in the new working relationship between Agility Agriculture and Monsanto.

Growers were particularly keen to learn more about the way that they will be serviced by Agility Agriculture for their carrot seed requirements and what trials and development work will be available in order to bring new, exciting and profitable varieties to the market.

Seminis varieties on display in the trials included:

  • Belveta: A main season Nantes type with intense, dark orange colour and high carotene content.
  • CR1706: A main season Imperator, with deep orange colour and improved flavour.
  • Malbec: A main season Red Imperator, suitable for fresh market or processing and ideal for use in mixed packs.
  • SV1140DN: A main / late season Nantes, that produces a quality root with excellent storage capabilities.

We extend our thanks to Roger Hobson and his team at Hobson Farming along with the BCGA and AHDB for their hosting and running of another successful field trials day. We look forward to playing a key part in this event again next year.
